Castle Douglas and District Angling Association have approximately 5 miles salmon fishing on the River Urr made up of several characteristically differing individual beats either side of the Haugh Of Urr village.

The river is a typical spate river meaning Fly, Spinning or Bait fishing may be allowed depending on river levels and the individual beat rules. 

The Salmon season runs from 25th February until 30th November with the best of the fishing from May/June onwards.
